About Us

1999 (4).png

1999, a year to remember. 2Train Robotics was born. Gary Israel, a teacher in Morris Academy for Collaborative Studies who met with Bob Stark, the head of the mechanical engineering lab at Columbia University. The two of them created 2Train Robotics, one provided the students, the other provided the tools. What could not be foreseen was the impact this would make for students. It offered many students from the Bronx an extracurricular activity that would provide many life skills. Gary Israel and Bob Stark would lead the team for the coming years, as the principles of responsibility, effort, and respect for others would carry our team farther than anyone could have imagined.

Twenty-one years later, 2Train Robotics thrives. We have persisted in spreading STEM, as we have an open doors policy to allow nearly anyone to join our team. Along the path to spreading STEM, the origin school Morris Academy for Collaborative Studies has merged with Columbia Secondary School. As our population is mostly students from those schools. The combination of the two schools has created a foundation for the future of STEM.
